Vacancy: FAW Referees Committee Members
The Football Association of Wales seeks to appoint four co-opted members to the FAW Referees Committee. The FAW Referees Committee is an integral part of the national association structure and has exclusive responsibility for all matters related to refereeing in Wales.
In accordance with the overall strategy of the UEFA Referee Convention, FIFA’s Regulations on the Organisation of Refereeing in FIFA Member Associations and the Rules and Regulations of the FAW; the Referees Committee is totally independent of the leagues, clubs and government. Furthermore, the Referees Committee has full responsibility for all matters relating to refereeing, including the national association’s refereeing structure, organisation, strategies and programmes for all levels of the game, including futsal and women’s football. The Referees Committee is particularly responsible for the recruitment and retention of grassroots and elite match officials and refereeing specialists, and for their education, training, development and welfare.
The specific functions of the four co-opted members are;
• Talents and Mentor
• Grassroots & Assistant Referees
• Referee Observers
• Elite Referees Instructor
Successful candidates must demonstrate the following;
• At least five years’ experience as refereeing specialists.
• Experience and knowledge within the field(s) of the function(s) for which they
apply.
• A strong knowledge of Welsh refereeing.
• A passion for the development of refereeing in Wales.
• Have no function with any of the leagues, clubs or government.

contain a letter of application and relevant CV.
• If candidates wish to apply for more than one role, the order of preference should
be identified on the application letter.
• Active referees are not permitted to be members of the Referees Committee.
• Previous experience as a FIFA referee or FIFA assistant referee is desirable.
• There is no remuneration for a Referee Committee member, but travel expenses are
payable in accordance with HMRC Regulations.
• Meetings are held in Cardiff, every two months.
