Chris Morrell picks up Special Award
Chris Morrell (pictured with the FAW Regions Cup), the Manager of the triumphant NWCFA Regions Cup squad that will represent Wales in Estonia later this month was presented with a special award at the NWCFA AGM last Saturday in recognition of his achievement in succesfully defending the trophy he first won as Manager in 2012 and took a team to Macedonia where he achieved Wales' first point in the competition. Morrell's success this time around is a massive one considering that the NWCFA played all their home matches at either Newtown or Aberystwyth as both the NEWFA and CWFA declined to enter the competition.
Needing a win in their last outing against favourites Gwent FA, the Coast secured 3-1 victory and now on the 22nd of July the Coast F.A. Mens team will once again represent Wales in the UEFA Regions Cup in Estonia. The tournament is the brainchild of Michel Platini being the equivalent of the Euros for amateur players and this will be the second time Chris Morrell's men have earned the right to represent the country.
Our tier 5 players (at start of qualifying) will face Estonia, Sweden and Kazakhstan with all other country's selecting from a higher tiers so there is a very tough task ahead and the challenge is to aim for a first win. The Coast have beaten all other Welsh associations, a fantastic achievement in itself, to be granted this incredible opportunity where players will wear full Welsh kit, receive Welsh caps and live the life of a professional footballer.
The Coast will also have a warm up game against Prestatyn Town FC on Weds 16th of July at Prestatyn, 7.30 kick off
