Knowing that only a victory would secure top spot in the Norther Group of the FAW Regions Cup Competition and a place in the Final against South Wales FA, Mark Orme’s squad flew out of the traps and were 2 goals to the good within the first five minutes of the match starting with goals by Tommy Court (1) and Kai Davies (3). However, NEWFA fought back and were level with two quick goals on 14 and 15 minutes.

Half Time: 2 - 2

The NWCFA applied more pressure early in the second half and were rewarded with a Ricky Jones goal on 51 minutes. NWCFA extended their lead with Tommy Court scoring his second goal on 58 minutes.

NEWFA reduced the deficit on 68 minutes when they converted a penalty.

The remaining 20 minutes were hard fought with both sides missing chances, but the Coast side managed to withhold late efforts by their opponents to secure a massive result and top spot in the Group.

NWCFA will now play South Wales FA in the Final on Monday 2nd April 2018 at Latham Park, Newtown FC, kick-off 2.00pm.
