FAW Statement on Coronavirus/COVID-19_issue 16
Dear secretary,
I hope you’re all well and had a great weekend.
I am pleased to state we are finally in a position to share our updated Return to Play protocol with you.
Welsh Government guidelines state that “coaches and match officials would generally be regarded as participants so the limit of 30 or 15 should include them. However, anybody who is there to organise or support the activity, if they are working or providing a voluntary service, can also attend and do not need to be considered within the limit of 30 or 15.” The issue of organisers or supporters of the activity has been clarified, with the key use of the word ‘also’ confirming that these personnel should be seen as additional volunteers to coaches and match officials who as the guideline states should be included in the 30-person limit. As a result, based on Welsh Government guidelines
The following individuals will be included within the 30-person limit
Coaches
Match officials
The following individuals will be exempt from the 30-person limit
First aiders
COVID Officers
AA/league officials
Club secretary
The attached Return to Play protocol provides details of how junior league competition can return as soon as the Area Association and leagues are in a position to do so. Unfortunately, the guidance regarding U18s (17 and under) mean that youth matches would need to adopt match protocols for those 18 and over as Welsh Government state that activity involving any participants that are aged 18 and over must be organised within the 30-person limit.
Please could this information be shared with your respective leagues. This information will be shared with Club COVID-19 Officers later this evening.
Regards
