Tegwyn Evans MBE
Last week, the Football Association of Wales sadly announced the passing of Tegwyn Evans MBE, a former President of the Association. Mr Evans was also a good friend to the NWCFA and was recently present at a meeting held of the Inter Association in Brymbo to discuss the forthcoming U18 Triangular competition
Tegwyn Evans MBE
A lifelong stalwart of Mid-Wales Football, Tegwyn had been president of his club, Welshpool Town, for many years and had served as an FAW Council member since 1975. He was FAW President for a three-year term between 2003-2006. He was also the chairman of the Central Wales FA.
Away from football, Tegwyn was always keen to be involved in his local community and served on Welshpool Town Council for many years, including a spell as Mayor between 1981-83. In 2002, he was awarded the MBE by her Majesty the Queen, for his services to the town and to Welshpool Football Club.
During his time at the FAW, he was a fine ambassador for the game at home and abroad and made many friends. Everyone at the FAW salutes his service to football in Wales and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
