Caernarfon Town Reserves came from behind twice to beat a strong Prestatyn Town Reserves team in the Final of the NWCFA Intermediate Cup, played at Llaneilian Road, Colwyn Bay Football Club. In a very entertaining, attacking and open final, Prestatyn took the lead after 15 minutes when Rob Hughes struck a sweet left foot shot that sailed past Steve Thomas in the Caernarfon goal. The lead remained intact until shortly before the hour mark, when Caernarfon midfielder Alex Jones levelled the match with a close range strike. Both sides were committed to winning the match with Prestatyn creating the more clear cut chances but they found Cofis keeper Thomas in inspiring form making several top drawer saves that earnt the custodian the man of the match award at the end of the match.
With no further goals in normal time, the match for the extra half hour and Prestatyn went back in front with the last action of the first period when Alex Lloyd slotted home his rebound inside six yards after having seen his initial effort come back off the crossbar. Within seconds of starting the second period, Caernarfon drew level again when Gavin Jones capitalised on Prestatyn's defensive hesistancies to lob keeper Williams into an empty net to ensure the match was settled by the penalties lottery. The Canaries held their nerve the better as Thomas saved two Prestatyn penalties to ensure his side's 4-2 spot kick victory.
