NWCFA Sunday Challenge Cup Final
NWCFA Sunday Challenge Cup Final - 23rd April 2017
Pengwern 3 - 4 Crozzy
Crozzy took the lead on 38 minutes through Lee Ellis, and were probably confident of going in to the break with a two goal lead when they were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half time, only to be denied by a superb save by Pengwern's keeper. The down side of the penalty award was that they were reduced to ten men for the second half.
The penalty mis did not distract Crozzy from focusing on the second half as they were awarded a second penalty within a minute of the restart, however, on this occasion the resultant spot kick was converted by Mike Lundstram.
Pengwern halved the deficit on 60 minutes, but a second goal by Mike Lundstram on 80 minutes restored Crozzy's two goal advantage, which was further extended a minute later by a second goal for Lee Ellis.
Although down to ten men Pengwern battled all the way and scored their second goal with some 4 minutes remaining. With only two minutes on the clock Pengwern scored a third goal, but the fight back could not be completed with Crozzy holding on for the win.
