(AFTER EXTRA TIME - PRESTATYN WIN 4-3 ON PENS)
PRESTATYN lifted the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup for the first time in their history after defeating Rhyl 4-3 on penalties at Belle Vue.
A thrilling final stood at 5-5 after extra time so it went down to spot-kicks, with Town keeper Jon Hill-Dunt emerging the hero by saving two.
Rhyl made much the better start and so nearly took a 15th minute lead when Hill-Dunt beat out a Steve Lewis piledriver and Josh Williams' effort from the rebound was almost forced over the line by the stretching Dave Forbes.
The deadlock was broken on 17 minutes when Seasiders player-boss Neil Gibson was robbed by Mike Walsh, who found Lewis and the big striker skilfully created space before drilling home the opener.
Three minutes later the visitors were level when Andy Parkinson played the ball out wide to Chris Davies, who cut in from the right and scored with a left foot scorcher.
Davies' fierce strike was held at the second attempt by home keeper Louis Gray before the Lilywhites regained the lead on 23 minutes, Lewis doing well to win the ball on the left and square to Williams to make it 2-1.
David Hayes cleared desperately off the line as Lewis almost struck again, but on 32 minutes Davies brilliantly flicked on a Hill-Dunt clearance and the pacy Carl Murray fired in the equaliser.
Two minutes later Hayes fed the ball down the right for Davies, who again worked himself a shooting position and lashed past Gray.
Rhyl levelled it in the 37th minute when Lewis converted a penalty after he was clipped by Hayes in the box.
Seconds later a stunning 30 yarder by Hayes proved too powerful for Gray and it was 4-3 to Prestatyn.
However, the scoring was not over and an amazing first half concluded with Lewis completing his hat-trick via a fantastic deft angled chip after a swift one-two with Williams down the right.
The second half was a tamer, tighter affair by comparison and it was not until the 73rd minute that another goal was scored, Michael Parker's neat pass putting in Parkinson to slot home.
Rhyl rallied and after a Ryan Astles header hit the angle, the resulting corner led to Forbes netting with a stupendous volley the great Marco Van Basten would have been proud of.
Lilywhites hat-trick hero Lewis was red carded in injury time for a late lunge on Rhys Owen.
Extra time brought few clear chances, Forbes going closest for the Lilywhites and Davies hitting another rasper just wide for the Seasiders.
So it went to penalties and it was 2-1 to Rhyl when Ross Stephens' kick was saved by Louis Gray.
Chris Rimmer missed a chance to make it 3-1 to the Lilies when Hill-Dunt kept out his effort and Davies levelled with the next kick.
It went to 3-3 before Danny Hughes' strike was saved by Hill-Dunt and it was left to Hayes to put away the winning penalty.
